Areas of Focus

Marital Relationships

I am incredibly fortunate to have couples comprise about 50% of my practice. Whether newly dating or at your golden anniversary, same sex or not, sometimes it’s nice to have a supportive neutral perspective. Prevention, intervention or simply a tune-up, I offer pre-marital and marriage counselling, as well as separation and divorce counselling. Sessions can surround the couple or an individual member.

Personality Disorders and Other Mental Illnesses

I have experience and/or advanced training in working with various mental disorders, including: Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Mood Disorder, Major Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Substance Abuse Disorders, Alzheimer’s and Dementia, and Early Psychosis.

Home-Based Sessions

Research has demonstrated that a client’s comfortableness with their surroundings can impact their engagement and success with therapy.

That is why I think it is so important to offer the option of sessions where a person normally feels most comfortable – his/her own home. Conversely, by working from a home-based office I believe many of my clients achieve a similar level of comfort.

Families

I have worked with many families, in numerous configurations from single parents to extended family systems. I also believe that family sessions may be helpful even if the original concern was not oriented around the entire family – this systemic, integrative approach allows for maximum support and information sharing.
